The lineup keeps growing. Six more powerhouse HBCU programs are confirmed for the 1st Annual HBCU/NAIA Fall Evaluation Camp, happening November 7–9, 2025, in Frisco, TX — and these coaches are bringing serious baseball pedigree. 🏫 Philander Smith University — Coach Kelvin Battles
Coach Battles is building momentum in Little Rock, developing disciplined athletes and a scrappy Panthers squad ready to compete every inning. His energy and drive for player growth mirror the heart of HBCU baseball.
🏫 Dillard University — Coach Melvin “Kerby” Marshall
A seasoned leader with more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, Coach Marshall brings discipline, culture, and player development to every program he touches. His Bleu Devils are known for competing with intensity and purpose—expect him to bring that same energy to Frisco.
🏫 Tougaloo College — Coach D’Ante Benford
Head Coach Benford has turned the Bulldogs into a resilient, competitive force. With experience across multiple levels of the game, he emphasizes character, discipline, and development—qualities every college program wants to see.
🏫 Rust College — Coach John Bates
Coach Bates has elevated Rust College baseball to new heights, guiding the Bearcats to a .299 team batting average and a Black College World Series appearance. He’s a proven builder of teams and talent.
🏫 Xavier University of Louisiana — Coach Xavier Paul
A former MLB outfielder for the Dodgers, Pirates, and Reds, Coach Paul brings elite-level experience and pro insight to the Gold Rush program. His focus on player development and winning culture makes him one of the most anticipated coaches in attendance.
🏫 Huston-Tillotson University — Coach Chase Almendarez
A seasoned program leader and former Division I standout, Coach Almendarez has positioned the Rams among the most consistent HBCU contenders. His approach blends high performance and mentorship—a combination that gets results.
